Philosophy

The Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation aims to build a learning community focusing on communal growth.

Purpose of Establishment

The Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation exists to bridge the educational gap between individuals, regions, and social classes, and to contribute to social integration and national development. The foundation practices the purposes through scholarship programs that expand actual educational opportunities for the educationally underprivileged and through implementation of welfare programs that constructs educational environments.

Basic Directions

The basic directions to achieve the foundation’s purpose of establishment are the following.


  • First, the foundation reflects the regional characteristics of farming, mountain and fishing villages, and island areas.
  • Second, the foundation reflects the characteristics of socioeconomic status.
  • Third, the foundation reflects the diverse educationally underprivileged status characteristics resulting from historical circumstances and globalization.
  • Fourth, the foundation provides complete support including the receivers' material, mental, and socio-cultural education environment improvement.

Mission

The foundation's mission is to reduce educational gaps between individuals and between regions in consideration of socioeconomic differences. The foundation seeks to provide financial aid to those who have been excluded from equal educational opportunities by providing students with scholarships and educational environments to improve their welfare.

  • The foundation seeks students who actively realize their dreams by challenging themselves and with positive attitudes and who practice volunteering for the community.
  • The foundation seeks communities that cooperatively attempt for all students to realize their dreams by overcoming various forms of educationally underprivileged conditions.

The foundation supports places where people live, builds up people through people, and teaches and allows learning to people respective to their conditions.

Mentoring System

The foundation's service is based on the adults' role to communicate with and support children, which is defined as the mentoring system.

Networking and Partnerships

The foundation aims to create networks and partnerships with local welfare centers, associated organizations and institutions in regards to implementing scholarship programs.

Cyclical Structure

The foundation pursues a structure where the service processes and results are endlessly connecting and cycling.

The foundation provides students with educational opportunities to uncover their talents in diverse academic fields.

The foundation seeks both individual and community growth through a communal approach.

Scholarship Programs

Mentoring Scholarship Program

This program supports middle and high school students from underprivileged backgrounds with dreams and potentials in various fields by providing them with scholarship grants through the foundation's mentoring system. This program is restricted to students currently living and studying in South Korea, regardless of nationality.

Leader Creation Scholarship Program

This program supports outstanding South Korean undergraduate and graduate students in South Korea who have shown their development through the Mentoring Scholarship Program and have proven their academic competence. This program provides customized scholarships and educational programs to aid the development of students' talents and to help them become future leaders in their respective fields.

Educational Support Program

This program supports local education welfare programs in South Korea in providing relevant, high-quality education for students who need educational support due to regional, social, and financial issues.

Global Scholarship Program

This program supports education programs to aid students of the Korean diaspora and students in developing countries studying in the respective countries. In addition, this program aids international students from developing countries who are studying in South Korea.

Special Programs

These programs include the Youth Orthodontic Support Program sponsored by the Korean Association of Orthodontists Foundation and the Afterschool Education Program Prize sponsored by the Ministry of Education.

Corporate Identity (CI)

The foundation’s CI was designed with a modern Gothic font to give a sense of clarity and honesty. The word "꿈(dream)" is aligned to the upper right to emphasize the foundation’s vision towards the future. The star-shaped motif represents students’ various and creative dreams, which will someday come true.

The light blue color signifies trust and strong convictions while the dark blue color signifies wisdom and self-realization. Together, the colors represent the foundation’s philosophy of realizing our students’ unlimited potential.
